"YouTube is moving AI labels to more prominent positions and introducing automatic detection of AI-generated content starting May 2026. Labels will appear directly below the player on horizontal videos and as overlays on Shorts. Automatic detection uses C2PA metadata or Google's own tools like Veo. Creators can challenge incorrect labels, but those based on metadata are final. The existing disclosure requirement remains in place."
