"Germany's central bank reports that in 2025, for the first time, more than half of all payment transactions were cashless. Cash was used in only 45% of transactions. Debit cards accounted for 26%, mobile payments 10%, and online payment methods 6%. The Bundesbank stresses the importance of maintaining cash as an inclusive payment option, noting that 80% of respondents in a survey consider cash payments important."
