Kosovo Snap Election Fails to Produce Decisive Outcome, Self-Determination Wins Plurality (osw.waw.pl)
- Self-Determination wins 43% (down 8 pp from Dec 2025); opposition PDK 21.1%, LDK 17.6%, AAK-NISMA 7.2%.
- Voter turnout 37% (down 10 pp); 100,000 diaspora votes still to be counted.
- Most likely coalition: Self-Determination with LDK; LDK nominated Vjosa Osmani for president.
- EU calls for stable government; US keeps distance, not prioritizing NATO accession.
"Kosovo's snap election on 7 June 2026 failed to deliver a decisive result. The Self-Determination party (Vetëvendosje) led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti won 43% of the vote, down from 51% in December 2025. The opposition parties (PDK, AAK-NISMA, LDK) made modest gains but cannot form a majority without the Serbian List, which refuses. Voter turnout was 37%. Coalition talks are expected between Self-Determination and LDK, but personal tensions between Kurti and LDK's presidential candidate Vjosa Osmani complicate matters. The EU calls for a stable government; US maintains distance."
