0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • 7200 Klimt NFTs stolen from Belvedere wallet on 29 May 2026.
  • Image files locked by museum; Opensea disabled tokens.
  • Police and crypto forensics investigation ongoing.
  • Theoretical 13.2 million EUR loss, but actual value near zero.

"Hackers stole 7200 non-fungible token certificates for Gustav Klimt's 'The Kiss' from the Belvedere Museum in Vienna on May 29. The NFTs were transferred from the museum's digital wallet without authorization. The museum blocked the associated image files, and Opensea disabled the empty tokens. Police and crypto forensic experts are investigating. The floor price had fallen from 1850 EUR to about 90 EUR before the theft, so the practical loss is minimal."
